Expertise

Dr. Giacomo Lanzoni’s research interest is centered on the development of Regenerative Medicine strategies for Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). Dr. Lanzoni`s work is aimed at regenerating and protecting pancreatic islet β cells – the cells that produce insulin and that are lost due to an autoimmune attack in T1D patients. With more than a decade of experience in stem cells and pancreatic progenitors, Dr. Lanzoni is currently developing methods that combine cell therapy and nanobiotechnologies.
