Dr. Merchan’s research interest is in the development of novel strategies to overcome resistance to antiangiogenic agents, using syngeneic and xenograft cancer models of renal cell, breast and colon cancer. Among the strategies he is investigating are the use of novel recombinant oncolytic viral agents re-designed to target tumor stromal components, and dual targeting (stromal-vascular and tumor cells).
