I am currently working on string theory. This "theory of everything" is an attempt to understand all the types of matter and forces in Nature as different vibrational modes of tiny strings. While there is still no experimental evidence for strings, and there are many fundamental aspects of this theory that are still not understood, this theory is the only known framework which can accommodate all known particles, and which is consistent with all known physical principles, such as quantum mechanics and relativity.
