Dr. Scott's research focuses on the identification of gene and environment interactions that influence risk of complex diseases.

Other research examines genetic factors underlying healthy longevity (or “successful aging”) in the Amish, primary open-angle glaucoma, genetic susceptibility to tuberculosis, Kaposi sarcoma, HIV infection, and staphylococcal and fungal sepsis.
